The African Brain

Brain is gain

Yet much brain drain!

Even in the rain

Without much pain

From the tropical rain

Forest to the temperate plain

To produce all but grain

For the dying in pain

Abandoned in the rain.

Brain is gain

If all brains would gain

From brain gain

Yet One trains

Another gains

The former complains

Legitimately and painfully

The latter explains

Shamelessly and gainfully.

No one to listen: no brain?

No one to act: bad brain?

No one to fix: old brain?

No one to tend: young brain?

Oh African brain

Where is your brain?

Train and retain

Every African brain

If you want to bring back your gain.

Oh African brain

Where is your brain?

Train and retain

Every African brain

If you want to remove your pain.

Oh African brain

Where is your brain?

Train and retain

Every African brain

If you want to plough your plain

And fly your plane.

Oh African brain

Where is your brain?

Train and retain

Every African brain

If you want to restore your gain

Making the most of the rain

Bringing forth much grain

To nourish every brain

And kill every pain

Train and retain every African brain.
